-------------
Iran thrashed China 3-1 in a friendly international at the Azadi Stadium on Friday.

Both sides are preparing for the AFC Asian Cup 2011 qualifiers whose first round takes place on January 14.

Several chances were created by both teams in the first half but the Chinese fluffed all the opportunities which came their way.

Arash Borhani opened the account for Team Melli on 20 minutes off a Hassan Ashjari free kick and veteran skipper Karim Bagheri scored the second goal from a quickly taken free kick in the 27th minute.

But Bagheri was injured soon afterwards and had to be stretchered off, making him doubtful for the opening qualifier against Singapore at the same stadium on Wednesday.

China, who take on Syria at the Aleppo Stadium the same day, pulled a goal back when Gao Lin found Huang Bowen inside the box and the latter made no mistake after beating two Iranian defenders.

Iran s third goal was scored from the penalty spot in the 71st minute by Maziar Zare after Gholamreza Rezaei was fouled inside the box.
