MUSCAT, Iran finished third in the Oman Four Nations Tournament 2008 by beating China 2-0 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.

Team Melli, beaten 1-0 by Ecuador in the semi-finals, had goals from Seyyed Mehdi Seyyed Salehi and Penjam Noori as Ali Daei s side finished the tournament on a winning note.

It took Iran until the stroke of half-time to take the lead with Salehi scoring from a penalty spot after Gholamreza Rezaei was brought down in the box by the Chinese goalkeeper.

Noori made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute when he tucked the ball away from close range.

Iran are preparing for their FIFA World Cup 2010 Asian qualifying match against Korea Republic on February 11.

Iran and Korea are in Group B with DPR Korea, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Korea Republic lead the table with seven points from three games, two points ahead of Iran.
